A celebration of Welsh Design & Technology, recognising and rewarding the next generation of innovators

Working in conjunction with the Welsh Government, our Innovation Awards encourage young people in Wales to be technologically innovative and appreciate the importance of Design and Technology.

As the Innovation Awards reaches the milestone of 25 years, we reflect on how the event started, with one of its founders, Selwyn Gale.

Selwyn has been instrumental in establishing the Innovation Awards and has continued to take an active role in the annual event, which provides a showcase for the very best GCSE, AS and A Level Design and Technology project work produced as part of the WJEC’s NEA (Non-Examined Assessment) units within the qualifications system in Wales.

Selwyn was asked how the event was formed, and has now become a firm favourite in the school calendar.
